OKAY Need some help here.Any body in this forum have any experience with shinohara switches and circuitron tortoise switches.Just finished doing an install of a tortoise and and a code 83 shinohara right hand switch on my outside main line track. It is the first powered switch Ive installed and I took my time putting it in,Read up on as much as I could find. Watched as many videos as I could on u tube.It is set up on DC,using a dpdt switch to operate the tortoise,Ive three wires analog cable wire soldered to the bottom of the shinohara down to the tortoise on pins2,3,And 4.got this from a fellow on u tube Toms trains although what he did was for a dcc system I felt it would work for dc as well. This how I wanted to power the frog. THEN when I installed the shinohara I put plastic rail inserts on the correct diverging rails to keep the switch from shorting out or damaging the tortoise.Wired the dpdt switch as follows, ran two wires from a dc power pack to the front of the dpdt.crowed over the wires from the front of the dpdt criss crossed to rear of dpdt,And finally ran two wires from middle screws on double throw switch to pins1 and 8 on the tortoise. When I fire up the dc power pack pack controlling the tortoise it shifts perfectly. But the mrc power pack that control the main line shuts off a second or two after I start it up,hence the short. That also happens with no power going into the tortoise and the dpdt in the off position.Main power cuts out just a few seconds of running.Any body got any ideas or any body have past experiences with shinohara .I know thiere not dcc friendly but it shoudn't cause this problem on dc not if I took care to insulate the switch,So I am out of ansewer's on this one.
