methuener: My wife is always mad at me...Sixth day of 90+ heat today. A cool down is finally arriving tomorrow. Jun 9, 2021 15:09:28 GMT -5
rbturner: Jim, when my wife gets 'fussy' with me I tell her; "play me or trade me-don't sit me on the bench". Jun 10, 2021 9:51:11 GMT -5
umpdan31: Jim, if I told my wife that, I'm afraid she'd trade me. After all, she's 9 years younger than me. Jun 10, 2021 11:29:25 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: Looks like it's going to be 90+ here in Buzzardly until October B-| Jun 10, 2021 16:44:08 GMT -5
rbturner: But it's a dry heat. Jun 10, 2021 19:20:23 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: Actually it's a jungle heat, straight up from the Gulf. John gets the dry heat out west. Jun 10, 2021 22:24:30 GMT -5
John: It was a cool Wet Spring, but is was 102 this week. The rain Delayed the Cotton Planting! Jun 10, 2021 23:30:20 GMT -5
TK Dave: It's been gorgeous and hot the last few days. Today, I'm freezing my gheezah off again, at 59, and the high will only be 67. I'll take 80, 90, 100 any day. Jun 11, 2021 5:35:58 GMT -5
umpdan31: I'm totally with you on that, TK Dave. I've always told people if you don't like the weather here, just wait. Jun 11, 2021 7:26:58 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: That explains a lot about the both of you. Lizard DNA P-) Jun 11, 2021 14:18:45 GMT -5
dastumer: We’re wearing T-shirts when it gets above freezing up here. 59 is plenty warm! Jun 11, 2021 17:10:37 GMT -5
ZeldaTheSwordsman: I prefer cooler. Too much heat does to my brain what leaving a soldering iron on it does to a plastic frame. Jun 11, 2021 18:13:49 GMT -5
ZeldaTheSwordsman: Track erasers... There's a thing that's the same but not specifically branded for model trains, right? Jun 11, 2021 18:15:04 GMT -5
dastumer: The bright boy is made by Walthers. One would last you several lifetimes. I never really use mine, I just go at the track with a rag and some alcohol to get the gunk off, and run a track cleaning car when it gets bad. I rarely need to clean track though. Jun 11, 2021 20:27:34 GMT -5
ZeldaTheSwordsman: Well, my track is in dire need of cleaning and I've tried rag-and-alcohol.. Didn't make much of a difference. What I was asking was if there was an equivalent to the Bright Boy that you could buy in a regular department store. Jun 11, 2021 22:24:54 GMT -5
umpdan31: As far as I know, track erasers are designed for model trains. I got mine at a LHS. Jun 11, 2021 23:41:23 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: I don't know of any Bright Boy equivalent out there. Maybe one of those dish scouring pads? Jun 12, 2021 7:18:00 GMT -5
TK Dave: , if it's general crud on the track, try ammonia on a rag. I've been able to remove thick, cigarette build up from tracks using it. If the track needs to be shined to clean metal, I use 3M dish pads, available at supermarkets Jun 12, 2021 7:27:31 GMT -5
TK Dave: then vacuum afterward. Jun 12, 2021 7:27:39 GMT -5
rbturner: Peco makes the best track eraser I have seen. Life-Like makes one too but it isn't very nice. For cleaning I switched to mineral spirits after reading the science about it on the MRH forum. It has to do with poplar and non-polar solvents leaving residues. Jun 12, 2021 16:27:07 GMT -5
