brian4321: That is no fun, especially while staggering around trying to wake up. Mar 14, 2023 15:17:26 GMT -5
brian4321: Try 10' ceilings on the first floor and a stairwell with 18' ceiling AND a fire alarm there. Code or no code, I crawled up into the attic and moved that alarm over 4 feet so I could more easily reach it from the 2nd floor landing. Mar 14, 2023 15:18:07 GMT -5
umpdan31: I think you're still within code. Why would someone put it on a stairway ceiling?MY house was built in 2016 and each bedroom has a smoke and CO detector. In the hallway on the 1st floor is a detector. Mar 14, 2023 15:40:45 GMT -5
umpdan31: On the second floor at the top of the steps is another one but not on the sloping ceiling. Finally there is one at the bottom of the basement steps. Mar 14, 2023 15:42:05 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: We have a small cabin with high ceilings. The builder put the detectors at the highest points of the ceilings at both ends. "They have been moved" 8D Mar 14, 2023 20:16:07 GMT -5

leadetective: Fire ants and smoke detectors? I'm warming my car to get to church. 18 degrees. Trying to remember why I left w.falls, Texas Mar 19, 2023 13:48:58 GMT -5
mph: Why I left WF, TX - Tornadoes, heat, floods, heat... oh, and more heat. Mar 19, 2023 15:07:18 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: Why I left WV for TX - my wife :D "You can always put on a heavier jacket, but when it's hot, it's hot". >:D Mar 19, 2023 19:03:33 GMT -5

rbturner: It is soooooo windy here today. Mar 25, 2023 13:55:26 GMT -5
leadetective: Really windy here. I was at ohio Valley club trying to put knuckle springs in a few kadees. Joe G, showed me the string method and did 8 for me, in 15 mins. Took me 45 minutes to do one. Of course, he has two eyes to my one. Don't get old. Mar 25, 2023 19:24:29 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: You'll have to demonstrate the string method! I use the point of a X-Acto knife. Mar 25, 2023 19:57:32 GMT -5
rbturner: I showed Joe the thread method but it's way easier to get a Kadee spring tool. Mar 26, 2023 11:27:59 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: You're going to have to show me the thread method, I can't visualize it. Mar 26, 2023 19:30:07 GMT -5
rbturner: The thread method is simple. You place an 8" length of thread (floss) inside the coupler spring and then attempt to install it. It can't escape. Once in place you slide the thread out. Mar 27, 2023 11:29:11 GMT -5
rbturner: The Kadee spring tool is the way to go. Mar 27, 2023 11:29:39 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: I'm pretty good with the X-Acto. Rarely lose more then 2-3 springs. :P Mar 27, 2023 12:44:25 GMT -5
