So I had heard about this club in my former hometown and decided to visit, in spite of the pandemic. Ephrata was founded in 1732 by Germans. Our big claim to fame was a Miss America winner back in '54!
Well enough history. To the trains.
The club models a Swiss location with the proper Swiss and German steamers and electrics
One of the signature scenes is a 2 foot bridge over a 3 foot chasm. The bridge decking even has a a microengineered mesh walkway between the tracks
Another features scene is a Swiss narrow gauge cog line
It operates on a 15% incline
Here are scenes by the engine house
All locos and track are Marklin, which is a three rail system where the middle rail is actually small metal inserts that make contact with wipers on the locos and any wagons with lights and LEDs
Here is a scene of the brewery, with the vats and internal details clearly visible
And a beach scene including a shark!
Mainline runs about 300 feet or about 5 scale miles. And it is completely portable! They load it up into 28 rolling cases and display in Timonium MD and 2-3 train shows per year.
I spent about an hour there, but there is way too much to be seen, so a few more trips are in order.
