While not HO scale, train related. Since you don't see too many Southern Pacific slot cars, I thought I would share (not my work). I posted this before, but the story behind it is meaningful to me and I thought it was worthy to share again. The story starts with a son selling his deceased father's trains. They were not an interest of his. I found several things that I liked and became a repeat buyer. In one transaction he asked me what my favorite railroads were and I responded with several including the Southern Pacific. In a future purchased he included this car. He told me that it was painted by a friend of his father and that friend gave him the car at his dad's funeral. I guess his dad never saw it. Since I was the only person he asked that responded with SP, he felt I would enjoy it. At first I felt strange being the recipient of this unique and heartfelt item. After some time, I realized that the son likely had other items from his dad that had meaning to him and this was not one of them, especially since it didn't become part of his world until the funeral. Knowing the story behind the car has meaning to me and I think about the kindness of friends every time I see it.
