" I received an email from Trainworld on 9/15 that they were closing out their stock of Model Power and Mantua. When I checked MRC's website, it looked like they had removed all of the Model Power and Mantua models from their website."
I think we've all noticed trains disappearing from the MRC website. Maybe Lionel got all the trains? I'm glad Lionel hasn't raised process much on their versions of MP stuff but it seems a shame if MP and Mantua are going entirely away.
This seems typical for model railroading. Tooling and molds are bought and sold, lie dormant for awhile and are bought and sold again. Pick up a piece of rolling stock or a locomotive at a train show, and then see if you can trace its lineage - it can be complex. The Life-Like passenger cars I like have a tall family tree - it could be a Varney, Penn Line, and I think there might be some other company in the mix I've forgotten.
To answer the question, no I don't know. To be honest I thought Mantua was already history (for now)

I looked at the Lionel website and the old Model Power stuff was listed for fair prices I think. The passenger cars were $25-ish. Freight cars were $19.99 etc.
Too much much really but for today not so bad.
I agree. I probably won't be paying those prices (though some of those armed forces recruiting cars are awfully nice...)but they are still almost the lowest in the industry and will likely street for less. Further, adjusted for inflation it's probably almost exactly the same as Model Power MSRP if compared to the last time MP set prices.

JNXT 7707: A question asked by many and answered by few. Apparently there are two stone "guardians" on an old bridge nearby. I guess they are guarding the bridge. Be safe.
