This is my first Marx piece, bought it for a dollar, mostly as a curiousity at first. What with the molded on brake wheel, I figure it to be
a step less than Tyco...until I threw it in a consist and for hour upon hour, good track, fair track, the piece never once derailed. Found that other Marx pieces performed equally splendid. Now I snap it up whenever I can find it- this stuff is major vintagely cool. I have been warned off some of the locomotives, having been told that the motors and drives aren't up to par. Agree or disagree? I don't want to buy any more junky locomotives- I have a box full of them for parts.

The white window trim, the optomistic handrails...the fabulous tracking ability...I was starting to fall hard for these overlooked gems.

Then I discovered this beauty- an early attempt at HO fine scale.

Also the porter"hustler" and F2 locomotive, along with the chubby caboose.

I picked up this Marx Monon work caboose today at an antique store, the Marx NYC deluxe caboose is a favorite ebay find, and the derrick car is a Model Power from the original Marx tooling. The heritage is obvious.
