For those who don't know, in the mid-50's, when Mantua created the "Tyco" brand as their "ready-to-run" line and began a larger push for visibility via the "blue box" era, Tyco comissioned a run of clocks for dealers. Promoting the then-fledgling novelty scale of HO (remember that O was still king and even Athearn was making O-scale items at the time), the clocks were HUGE at 16" diameter, illuminated with 3 standard light bulbs, used an electric sweep movement, and encased under bubble glass.
These clocks are not cheap when they turn up, as they do infrequently... I have yet to see one sell for less than $350.
A few years back I reproduced the artwork to fit suitable modern clocks that were available at the time. I modified some (the larger ones) to be lit with blue neon. I made some smaller ones that were cheaper. All of them sold to members of the wrecked forum, and ebay.
Recently while cleaning out stuff for a yard sale, I found one of the larger ones that I'd set aside in hopes of eventually finding the right neon parts to add later. I never did, but at this point I'm not inclined to look.
The clock face is 12" diameter (the clock body is a bit larger), using a standard quartz movement.
I think I sold the original neon-lit clocks for $125, and the smaller ones for $50. I honestly don't recall for certain. At any rate, I'd split the difference on this one and ask $75 for starters.
Next time I round up a pile for ebay this will go up there, but for now I'll post it here, first come first served.
