This ROCO Chicago Great Western tank car was buried in a box of stuff from last Saturdays train show. It's in pretty good shape except for the platform, which is missing the railings, and the hatch cover is missing. Does anyone have the parts, or a donor car? I'd like to return it to it's as built condition if possible. Thanks!

Here's the service teardown of the Pemco C-430. You first have to remove the truck side frame assemblies so the frame can drop out. The frame is difficult to remove because it has 6 mounting tabs along the sides and it fits very tightly into the shell, it also doesn't really release you have to sort of pry it out of the body shell. The pancake motor is very robust, it is large and has heavy bearing surfaces on the Armature shaft. This drive is interesting because if you look at the picture you can see the powered truck side frame assembly has 2 bearing blocks on it that carry the weight of the chassis. Without the side frame assembly mounted on the power truck, it just flops around in the frame. You can also see the poorly installed factory wiring with the reversing light diodes soldered in. I've not seen a drive put together exactly like this before. It is interesting.

The weight box had a broken locking tab at the rear, so I put a self tapping screw in the gap by the tab to hold everything together. I also properly reinstalled the light bulb clip and added a drop of ACC for security. Notice the inline wiring splice?
I got everything lubed up and back together, test ran just fine. Both horns (trumpets?) were broken so I salvaged some off of an old GP 20, which fit perfectly. It's all done for now, I'll have to address the damaged handrails and glue marks on the cab roof later on.
burlington77: I just posted LOTW and COTW threads. Board is really messed up right now, showing two of each in the recent threads. Other two go to other posts. Check the Recently Update Threads for the real thing.

JNXT 7707: The Recent Threads box on the upper left side of the page is rarely correct. The one at the bottom of the page (above the Shoutbox) is better.
