It is still relentlessly raining here in far Northern California, been like this since the beginning of October. I maintain yards for a living and with all the rain I do not get to work much, so I have been working on my train set up since October, got my 1/3 acre lot finished; house, garage, chicken coop, outhouse, fence and gates, full landscaping and a hill that has a grotto and waterfall. It is now the centerpiece of my train setup.
I have another house and a general store-post office that I got from the thrift store along with the house on the lot, but I really wanted a train station and not a giant one like the one I got from the thrift store, but a small town train station. I looked up pre made stations and photos of real train stations and then went through my supply of tiny windows and doors, my balsa wood, tweezers, glue and so on. I was going through my box of extra cars that I got in a lot from cl for 35$ and there was a toy caboose that did not work with my set that had a soundboard, speaker, light and switch, no battery pack. I took the caboose apart for the innards and made a basement section on the station to house the setup. I fed the light and tiny switch that changes from light to light and sounds. I had a triple pack for AAA batteries and a tiny on off switch and wired them to the sound board all put in the basement. I made a counter top for inside that houses the light and switch that looks like a cash register, sort of. I will paint it brass color. I am going to paint the station in a medium sage green and barn red for the trim. I am going to make a two sided sign for he ridge of the roof top that will say " Martinsburg " the name of my little town. My name is Martin So far there are 169 individual piece of balsa wood making up the station. I have a stove pipe and mock stove to add and will get passenger to sit on the tiny bench inside and a station master behind the counter.
