I don't actually have a layout, as many of you know, just a metric ****-ton of rolling stock. We didn't have this forum section before but it sounds cool, so this is now the official thread for the Chinoy Industries Car Works, aka my workbench. Updates on interesting projects, cool finds, and horrifying disasters will occur whenever I can be bothered to post pictures.
Currently on the erecting floor:
ATSF #64429, 40' Double-door boxcar, a battered C&BT Car Shops car in for superdetailing.
ACDX #5203, 40' Outside-braced boxcar, an Accurail data-only car, halfway lettered for Allied Chemical, awaiting more dry transfers.
PRR #64154, 40' Double-door automobile boxcar, the original Globe kit, finished except running gear, currently waiting for me to figure out how to fit kadees into the existing coupler pockets without reaching for the hacksaw
ERIE #70609, 40' AAR steel boxcar, also Globe, built wrong by someone else, rusted, reverted back to a kit, awaiting reassembly.
NP #38572, 40' Double-sheathed truss-rod boxcar, Silver Streak kit, the original trucks and MDC couplers are flawless but all the glue came unglued and the doors got lost, awaiting installation of replacement doors and newly fabricated ends.
S&RH #2, 1890s wood-sided hopper, one of a set of 7 scratchbuilt hoppers found on eBay, awaiting frame surgery and coupler installation.
36' tankcar, unlettered, the old all-metal Mantua kit with the sheet-brass tank, disassembled and awaiting paint stripping to remove a beat-up coat of flat black.
SP #90450, 40' gondola, an extremely old car of unknown manufacture (1940s), car self-destructed with age, reverted to a kit, cardboard sides and crude white-metal parts, awaiting re-backing of the cardboard sides.
