     It was most difficult getting on this page but no matter problems I knew I had to leave the forum even though I hardly logged on. I mean, every time I got a hard to get TYCO I shared it, but as far as communication, I just kept my mouth closed. The TYCO forum is completely gone down hill; never mind the fact that it's only 60% Tyco / Mantua, but there is no direction, spam is not getting filtered, and we don't know who the **** is in charge of the site. How could a site so nice go down hill so fast?

     I mostly spend my time on the TYCO Facebook page: TYCO Trains, the under appreciated models. It's how the forum used to be when I first joined. Howard Roark is doing a fantastic job keeping the drama down to a minimum, he'll let you know quick he does not want to that site to become the TYCO forum.

     OK now I have a Question, is this site going to be dedicated to the growth and knowledge of TYCO / Mantua or just model railroading in general? I hoping the name is not supposed to me TYCO Depot (AND) Model Railroading forum. I feel there are enough model railroading sites out there and this one should be dedicated the TYCO / Mantua trains. The other forum started to go down when we started talking about other things other than TYCO.

     This is to ADMIN; is there any way you could send an email the all the guys on the other sites personally inviting them to come over and be with the Jedi and leave the dark side? Seriously though, it really good to be here and I will do every thing I can to help this site succeed.

I know, right? How could that great site crumble so quickly.... I can understand this happening over a long period of time but this all happened within a number of weeks. Plus, it's gone now (Todd froze it) so there's that.... Anyway, I look forward to whatever you'll post here, definitely.

Learned quite a bit about Tyco/Mantua, and to my own surprise even began collecting Tyco/Mantua passenger cars and rolling stock, and developed an appreciation for the company and its history. All while enjoying talking about other brands too, in an atmosphere that was refreshing and unique compared to the "other model railroading sites". So while I'd agree this site should be focused on Tyco/Mantua, I don't think it should be by excluding other brands. There is a real appreciation for the FUN of model railroading here - I hope not to lose that.

Yeah, I tend to buy Tyco rolling stock and accessories more than the locomotives because dang, Tyco made some pretty good stuff with rolling stock and accessories, at least in my opinion.

I joined TF because folks there were sharing the fun of running trains. SHARING THE FUN! A forum for us folks laying track on the carpet and running 5% slopes on the main line where curves of 18 inch radius is considered normal. A Tyco/Mantua focused subset for this forum seems like a good idea, but I hope the forum as a whole continues to promote fun.

Hate to burst your bubble, GG-1 guy, but just by looking at all the posting sub-topics, the rest of the model train world is included here ( American, not European or Japanese - I don't see Marklin, Piko, LGB, Hornby, Tri-Ang, Tenshodo, etc. ). While I love my Tyco, I also have plenty of Bachmann, Life-Like, and smaller names like Varney, Cox, Revell, Playart, and others. I would not like to see ANY of the Tyco Forum makes banned because they're not spelled T-Y-C-O or M-A-N-T-U-A. Nor any scale other than HO, as I've posted Z, N, O, G and even TT here.

The Sub-Forums are like doors, you don't have to open any of them and cross into their universe, you can ignore them at your leisure. I'd like to see that tradition continued, I know that we can all learn from other makes. I work on them all at my hobby shop repair job, so concentrating on just one make could get real uninteresting for me, as well as others I'm sure.

Just to (re)introduce myself, I'm Jerry from VA, AMC_Gremlin_GT on the TF, now GremlinBL2guy here. Figured I'd break a bit with the TF nomenclature and reinvent myself here. And I brought my Eldon trains with me ( I've now put "snow" on the 2' x 2' module I created for the dual-track Eldon module ). Heh heh! Anyway, will be posting on both sites for awhile, to see how things shake out. TF seems to be back up and running with posting possible. I won't give up on it yet, but we'll see how things run for now.

This is one of the few forums where one can talk about the classics such as Tyco without getting snubbed. most other forums you talk about PT repair, or upgrading a car or whatever and you mention the "T" word it's always the same answer "trash it buy "XXX". I'm glad to be here, I'm glad RDC went to the trouble of making this forum and I'm glad for the electro-camaraderie here.

Yes this site is dedicated to Tyco & Mantua, however nearly all of us have other brands too, as other members in this thread pointed out. Talking about other brand trains didn't make that site go down. The owner let it fall apart, unfortunately. The success of this site depends on the members, but I do have a team in place to handle spam and drama.

As others have stated, the TCF went downhill due to the administrator's bizarre behavior, not the membership. The old place wasn't highly trafficked as model railroad forums go, and that was with all the other brands included. Limiting this place to Mantua and Tyco is a very narrow focus and a good formula to see it whither and die. That's a niche interest of a niche interest. It's fine for a Facebook page, but not an entire forum. At least you have a venue where you can discuss it exclusively.

As far as the old Tyco forum is concerned, I never noticed any problem with it. I just enjoy all model trains. Since I retired I don't have the funds to spend on today's expensive stuff so I make do with mainly Tyco/Mantua on eBay because there are still some good buys to be had. I especially like locos that "don't run" because my "thing" is mainly re-poweing and super detailing anyway. I like to do some bashing too which allows me to craft a loco that has not been produced to-date or is too expensive for my budget.
