So I just left the Terre Haute post office.
When I walked in, the person working the counter asked me if he could help me. I said not unless you're the postmaster, and don't take this personally but I'm very angry and I'm getting ready to put my boot up somebody's ****.
The clerk said that he would get someone to help me and left very quickly. After about 10 minutes, I was able to speak to the postmaster who immediately asked for the tracking number. I enlighten him as to the fact that there were 40 entries on the destination log, and it has been 27 days coming from Schaumburg Illinois, which I googled and established that it was a 4-Hour Drive.
He checked and said it was in Brazil out for delivery. To which I said that I wanted proof because if it wasn't at my house today, that I was going to come back and see him tomorrow and I wanted to know whose throat I could ram the package down because I was fed up as a citizen, and as a customer because they were in possession of something that I owned and I wanted it now.
He assured me that it was being delivered, and I said I'm not leaving until you call them. call them right now and find out if it's in fact there, and if they are delivering it because I'm not going to be very happy if we're getting ready to go around again.
at that point, a lady came out and told me that I needed to keep my voice down. I said why, I don't have a gun and I'm not going to hit anybody. she said that there were customers who didn't need to hear this, and I responded that yes they did need to hear it because they were going to fall into the same trap I was.
She told me she knew nothing of my situation. I told her that she should read up on it and enjoy the story, to which she replied she was going to call the police!
For what oh, I said. She said you're creating a disturbance. I said to her that I informed everyone that I have spoken to that day that I was going to create a disturbance. She went away.
The postmaster came back after a few minutes and assured me that it had been delivered. I said thank you and walked out.
During the conversation we exchanged several remarks about idiots throwing packages in the wrong trucks, and the likelihood that some important documents were probably not getting delivered because of their ineptitude. I was repeatedly informed that they were having problems at the post office, to which I replied I knew that very well. 27 days from Schaumburg illinois is unacceptable, I said. The postmaster agreed.
No doubt they will remember at least for a few hours that I was there. Now hopefully the package is in fact at my house, otherwise I'll be coming back tomorrow.
