Little test vidio, was curious to see what the 4 Tyco's could pull,I had 20 something cars on the board so I hooked em all up, aside from yanking the lighter cars off on the turns & ripping out some couplings, I moved light ones to the rear, with all 4 engines on, then it started stopping & starting, would not pull, remembered one time I had a lot of engines on the track the same thing happened, so I pulled 1 b unit & let em rip BTW ,These are going up for sale (gotta check, you guys have a for sale/trade section?) Anyway here they are.........
WOW. Did the neighborhood lights dim when you fired that thing up? Even some lit cars pulling juice

I love my Hoggers!
OK besides getting some stuff ready for sale, gotta make room that next batch is on the way I got the paint of the little camel & took out a nice new soft brass brush & buffed my fingers off, It will never shine again but at least it's pretty clean. Now I have to try & straiten some bent spots & fix some popped solder joints.

Calling Burlington77, this ones for you. I'm going to put the Lionel's up for sale, you have the first shot, just tell me if you want anything, what you want & how much you want to pay & I'll tell you what I did to them, & any details missing, I left 1UP upside down, that has the older drive in it, the motor in the chassis is good. Rich. One of the newer ones is also all wheel drive, the other is 1 power truck like the chassis.

So this little devil might just keep me busy till Christmas, workin on a bigger piece a little scrub with 400 wet & dry got most of the tarnish off & didn't scratch too deep, I have up to I think 1200 so with that & a soft brass brush I should be able to spruce it up a bit, lookin at the boiler there was not much that was soldered together so I took it all apart, tinker time galore on this one, even if it won't run it'll sit & look pretty!

got it all rough cleaned, decided to put her back together(to see if I could?) & see if it would at least run with direct power, No go, can't seem to get the motor to mesh with the main gear, then both handrails vanished while I was rebuilding, had everything on a paper towel so I wouldn't loose anything, am having trouble soldering the back hood & plate(2nd pic) back on with my little stick iron, might have to try the bigger gun I have in the garage, anyway here it is "almost" back together! did eventually find em about 5ft away on the floor, in opposite directions???

Yea, was trying not to add any solder, just flux up what is there & heat, I can (with the other gun) get em melted, but only one at a time, it's an rounded edge/corner & can't hold it or clamp it well, just gave up for tonight after 30or 40 min's of no success, will hit it again tomorrow with fresh eyes!

Top is Mantua I think, it runs but is painted half gray, ran outta paint I guess, but it's metal so no problem stripping. Bottom is Varney, not sure if that's the correct tender, but it also ran a little, think also metal shell.
rbturner: Many years ago I built a Budweiser Clydesdale, 8 horse hit w/ wagon. It sat on a cobblestone base. I painted each cobblestone individually with various earth tone colors. It looked great but was a real job.

frankenstein: Why get stalled? Things like that have a great variation to them, and are largely interpretive.

ZeldaTheSwordsman: Because I needed to be sure the cobblestones weren't completely off the wall before proceeding to the weathering stage of painting the base. I know there's a lot of variation, but I was worried I had still managed to goof it up

methuener: My B&O Pratt Street layout will be all street running and all cobblestones. I'm going with paper sheets with cobblestones printed from photo images.

eilif: Is there a topic where we share our collection of rolling stock from other member's freelanced railroads? I've got a BC&E on the way that will join equipment from JNXT, NMN, and JFI, it'd be nice to have a specific place to share this stuff.
Aug 12, 2019 8:29:48 GMT -5
JNXT 7707: I don't think there is one, or a specific place for that - but just create one under "Gone to Beans Coffee Shop" I'd say. Sounds like it could be fun!

JNXT 7707: I've also acquired a small handful of mystery freelance roads from train shows, done with such care that I can't think of stripping them.

John: JNXT, Don't want the cars but would like to see the pictures. Please!

John: I guess I will never understand the romantic nostalgia that is felt about Woodstock. I grew up in that era. Woodstock seemed more like a Drunken Roman Orgy than a music festival. I guess I was a Red Neck then too.

rbturner: John; AMEN.

JNXT 7707: I second that. I do like some of the music but the event itself was a disaster. It has improved over the years though, like a fine hippie wine

The Jade Fog, formerly: Dave: Just heard Canned Heat for the first time. Sounds like pretty good blues work. The Dead are on in a few hours!

pokemonprime: "seemed more like a Drunken Roman Orgy" yep I think that's why some people went.

The Jade Fog, formerly: Dave: Are there no fences strong enough or tall enough to contain these birds of destruction?
Aug 19, 2019 20:18:07 GMT -5
mph: Nothing that I can find. I may have to try something drastic and build a mote filled with Fogite - that will stop anything, right?
